Editorial standards

How we check facts, label paid content and correct mistakes.

Facts and sources

Every name, date, price, platform and number in a PlayAdvice story comes from a public source we opened ourselves, preferably a primary one: the store page, the developer's or publisher's own announcement, an official blog or filing. Each article lists its sources at the end. Release dates are written exactly as officially stated; rumors are named as rumors with their source, or left out.

Opinion

News and analysis are kept apart from opinion. Our view of a story sits in the section called Our take.

Review roundups

Our Reviews section summarizes published reviews and aggregate scores, always attributed to the outlet that gave them. We do not publish scores we did not see in a source.

Developers and publishers can pay for a dedicated story about their game. Such stories are labeled Sponsored on every card and at the top of the article, carry a disclosure naming the sponsor, and links to the sponsor are marked as sponsored for search engines. The sponsor provides materials and may correct facts before publication; the sponsor does not approve our wording or our opinion. We do not sell review scores, rankings or coverage in editorial stories, and we may refuse an order that does not fit our readers.

Images

We use images only with a license that allows it: official press kits and materials supplied by the rights holder, credited, or our own artwork.

Corrections

If we get something wrong we fix it and add a note at the end of the article. Report an error through the contact page.
